One of the most familiar passages in Scripture is found in the gospel of John. In the third chapter we find these great, wonderful and comforting words:
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.
John 3:16-17
God so loved the world! What a joy for us that God loves us, that he loves us so much he gave to us his son. The God who loves, proves his love to us by giving us the gift of his son – Jesus Christ. The Lord God’s love gave us the greatest gift of his son, so that by believing in him we might find eternal life, instead of perishing in eternal death. A greater, more impactful gift could never be found, than this precious gift of a Savior for us.
How does this glorious, powerful gift shape your life each day? Are you filled with joy over God’s love and gift for you? Do your actions, words and attitudes reflect that we have been SAVED from our sins and appointed to eternal life? Are we proclaimers of this Good News to others who haven’t received the gift of Jesus?
John 3:16-17 is a well-known passage because its message is so profound. Make sure you allow its truth, its power and its insight to direct your heart and mind – with comfort and with motivation. Praise be to God who loves, gives and saves!
